Small business is the foundation of a strong community and leads to opportunities and better paying jobs. The demand for small business and opportunity is here. The challenge is navigating the local government code in order to bring those ideas to reality. We need leadership that helps work through the challenges of owning a small business and encourages new businesses to set up shop.

It’s not the job of the county to create small businesses, it’s the county’s job to help small businesses get through the permitting process quickly and cost effectively. I want to see the community development department help residents navigate the process in order to bring their ideas to reality.
- The permitting process through the current county code is the most restrictive aspect to starting a small business. When someone has a business idea that adds value to their community, the county should work with them to help bring that idea to life. I want to help make La Plata County a place where you can build your future.
