Meet Paul Black
Paul, his wife, and both of their children were born at Mercy Medical Hospital
and raised right here in La Plata County - in Bayfield and Durango.
He began his career as a Firefighter/EMT for Upper Pine Fire Department before transitioning into farming, ranching, and raising a family. His wife is a Fort Lewis College Alumni, recipient of the Durango Young Professional of the Year Award, and together they manage multiple businesses that benefit and serve the people of this community.
As a homeschool family, their two children love participating in 4-H, music, and sports. You’ll find them happily spending time outdoors enjoying this amazing place we get to call home!

Paul has spent the past decade volunteering his time on multiple boards throughout the community to help make a difference.
He currently sits as;
Board President for Upper Pine River Fire Protection District
Board President for the Pine River Conservation District
Board President of the Schroder Irrigation Ditch Company
Board Member on the Los Pinos Irrigation Ditch Company
